Q: Is there not an inherent problem with having the main person someone who is understands little mathematics and physics. Physics is not always 'common sense' and there is the possibility that the mother might just say "Sounds strange, therefore I don't believe it" when infact both logic and experiment show a counter-intuitive result (such as in quantum mechanics).

A: There is much more than math that makes a theory correct. The idea is for the main character to decide on her own whether she thinks Einstein may be right or wrong. The filmmaker has the point of view that if the general public can't understand a theory, engineers don't use it, and there is a growing number of physicists and scientists finding fundemental problems with relativity, then the public (represented by the main character) should be able to judge this for themselves.

you should read the comments in the FAQ, there are some gems hidden in there too. such as, "most people don't understand quantum mechanics, but look at computers." as far as i can tell, those are two disconnected thoughts joined by a coordinating conjunction.

assholes like this make me want to move to ecuador and grow cabbage.
